Intro.
A hero. A scholar. That's what Tao-Sin has always wanted to be.Torn straight from the pages of a fairytale, she's exactly what everyone expects her to be. They're kind, and chivalrous. The flower that blooms in a field of dead grass. A source of succor in a world rich with struggle and strife. Be it by sword, shield or staff, she's there for everyone that needs her.For you.Yet in all those books that she read, and the stories that she was told, there was always a question. What does the hero do, when the world isn't ending? What happens when they reach the epilogue? How do you live, when you've accomplished the one goal you had, ever since you were a child? What happens when you're... happy? Loved? She doesn't know. A new goal. A new cause. It will all come to her in time, like the moving tides. Forever seeking stories and people to share them with, every step is followed by another, and another. Maybe it will all come together for her, if she keeps going.A hero doesn't stop. She's not sure if she can.

Roleplay Hooks.
Protector.
A shield. A sword.Be it in the realm of politics, a shady street, or a wartorn battlefield, Tao-Sin is no stranger to using both to protect and defend those that need it. If you need help... She is there. Always. Perhaps even to an extent that cannot be considered healthy for her, mentally or physically. She can't save every cat in a tree. She can't give money to everyone that needs it. She can't bring miracles to those that pray for them.It keeps her awake at night, while she's supposed to be focused on the bigger things. A bigger picture.Yet she finds herself trying, in spite of the reality. Give her your poor, your weak, your hopeless, and she'll raise them up on her shoulders as her bones bend beneath the weight.— Personal Stories & Side-Quests

Magic Lover.
It's no surprise that Tao-Sin loves magic. It's practically dripping from her pores and almost certainly glittering in the air around her. It's the one thing she most definitely got from her mother. With clear focus given to the fields of Abjury, Astromancy and Everything Aetheryte-related, she isn't all that unfamiliar with other flavours of magic. From fraternizing with witches, to dancing with demons and sharing notes with those of a more clerical sort, there's hardly a topic in the arcane spectrum that she isn't interested in.Although it has unfortunately been a few years, one might recognize her name attached to a number of published tomes:— A Beginner's Guide to Aether, by Tao-Sin Verra
— Anima and the Lifestream, by Tao-Sin Verra
— An Exploration of Abjury, by Tao-Sin Amariyo
— Introduction To Teleportation, by Tao-Sin Amariyo

fate's favourite.
The Aetherial Sea is vast. It is sweeping, looping and confusing. Just as gravity guides the waves that crash against the cliffs of La Noscea, there too are forces that pull at the strings of fate beyond the silver veil of reality.Perhaps Fate has a plan for Tao-Sin, that she stumbles towards without knowing. Perhaps, she lives in spite of Fate's opposition. Either way, something strange surrounds Tao-Sin and every step she takes. She's wrong and anyone familiar with Astrology or related arts, can tell.Whatever is written in the stars for her, has been re-written over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over⸻She's lucky. Perhaps she's just always in the right place, at the right time.— Chance Meetings

Aetheryte Crafter.
She's always been infatuated by them.Beacons of light within an ocean of aether so vast that one could never count the lost. Giant, towers of blue crystal that cast their light in every corner of modern society and the way that it functions. They enable travelers to see the corners of the world and come home after. They embolden trade. They improve military efficiency. Chances are, they make everything better.Yet their secrets have been closely guarded by craftsmen and scholars that refuse to share their knowledge.Everything she's ever learned about aether, anima, and the intricacies of teleportation has given her the knowledge that she needs to make an Aetheryte of her own, and only now will those with the same knowledge, compare notes with her.Now that she knows how to make one... what comes next?
Where is the next horizon?
At least she can make one for you.Teleportation Knowledge / Consultation —

Sword Appreciator.
A sword tells a story.Like food, there's a culture behind every crossguard and every curve of a blade. Tao's love of learning doesn't end with magic, but finds a different form in her exploration of different manners of bladed weapons. Though her favourites are swords—naturally—she likes 'em all. From the spear-wielding Dragoons of Ishgard, to the chakram twirling Dancers of Thavnair, Tao-Sin wants to learn a little bit from everywhere she goes. If there's an expert on a style of swordplay she's not familiar with, or even one that she is, chances are that she'll fancy sharing a conversation...Probably a spar, too.Friendly Spars —

tactician.
The promise of peace is something to strive for. To fight for.
Why is peace always the justification for war?Tao-Sin is no stranger to such conflict. Witness to the Dragonsong War, and the rebellion against Garlean occupation in the East, she has seen the horrors of war. One fight bleeds into another, and once that one ends, something else rises to fill the void. With practice comes knowledge. A veteran tactician and rehearsed leader, the woman seems just as comfortable standing at the war table as she is leading the charge from the front. To those with a cause, she's a valuable asset. For those with a past... she's a shoulder to lean on, and ear to speak to.War Stories & Reminiscence —

OOC & Breakdown.
Hey there! I'm Madison (She/They), the voice in Tao's head and the author behind her.
I'm a long-time writer and roleplayer, seeking more and more people that share the same hobby as myself.I tend to prefer:- Serious & Long-Term RP
- Lore Appreciation & Expansion*
- Complex Characters & Dynamics
- Campaigns, Short Stories & Slice of LifeHowever...What I'm looking for with Tao-Sin isn't just depression and misery.
She is NOT a Superman clone. She is not all-powerful or written in such a way that is meant to invalidate struggle or the strength of others.
Nor am I particularly seeking powerscaling and god complexes. A powerful character by nature, my interest is less in constant combat
and expressions of said power, but rather, what happens beyond and because of the strength and responsibility that comes with it. Little things add up,
and slice of life is just as important as rallying a party to kill the next evil deity that rolls up and threatens the world.I'd like to explore those expectations and the assumptions that are made.
What happens, when you actually accomplish your initial goals of becoming a hero?
What if you're stronger than your friends?Does it matter?
What matters?...You know. That sort of thing. Misery only matters if you could be having fun instead.

and narrative being written. Regardless of theme, however, I have no interest in scenes, of any kind, with underaged players or characters.───── ⋅ ─────Hit me up with ideas or just to chat about characters and fashion. I'm chill.
